5th/6th Demonstrative Speeches Were Amazing!!!

The 5th/6th Speech Class learned how to research and prepare a step-by-step handout for a demonstrative speech. The students used laptop computers to help them design a handout of explicit step-by-step procedures with illustrations to show how something is done or made. Each student was "the teacher" of his/her topic! Carson taught us "How to Make Smores". We actually made them and got to eat ours! Zach taught us "How to Do the Rainbow". For those of you who aren't familiar with this term, it is a really cool way of handling a soccer ball! Trinity taught us "How to Strike a Soccer Ball With Power and Accuracy". We practiced her technique on the playground! Shelby taught us "How to Braid Hair". Even the guys took part in this activity by braiding pieces of yarn! Steve taught us "How to Make a Free Throw". We found that some of our classmates are really good at this! Tessa taught us "How to Make Worry Dolls". For those of you unfamiliar with what a Worry Doll is, in Guatemala children put their Worry Dolls under their pillows at night and tell them all their worries before they sleep! Jason taught us "How to Make Lemonade". It was a little tangy, but delicious!!!! Brianna taught us "How to Make a Friendship Bracelet". The whole class finished their bracelets this week! Sarah taught us "How to Make Brownies". They were sure yummy! Chip taught us "How to Make Tailgate Nachos". They would be fun to fix for the next football game! Preston taught us "How to Make Sopapillas". We put honey on this delicious Hispanic treat made for all of us to try! Anna taught us "How to Make Chocolate Chip Cookies". She brought a finished batch for us to taste! MMMMMMM! Elizabeth taught us "How to Make Dirt and Worms". What a cool treat to make for a party or Halloween! We all got to taste the dirt (chocolate pudding and Oreo cookies) and worms (gummy worms, of course)! John taught us "How to Make a Smoothie". He blended delicious strawberries and bananas for us to sample! Mary taught us "How to Make Paper Flowers". The flowers were made from tissue paper and were beautiful. We all got to make one to take with us! Bri taught us "How to Make Poinsettia Napkin Rings". We all made one with bright red and green felt. They were so cute (and clever)! Emma taught us "How to Make Ghost Pops". We took a Tootsie Roll Pop and made a ghost out of it! What a deliciously "spooky" Halloween treat! Ryan taught us "How to Go Behind Your Back When Dribbling a Basketball". This was tough for many of us. Ryan was a pro, though! The class will finish off the quarter with Persuasive Speeches. They have been so much fun to work with!
