Members of the All Saints Speech & Debate Team competed on Friday, November 6th, and Saturday, November 7th, at Booker T. Washington High School. Debaters left school early on Friday and competed until shortly after 10:00 p.m. in four intense rounds. Those participating were: Alex R., Gracie S., Marissa W., Aurora B., Connor M., Bailey H., Ella E., and Grant C. Doing an excellent job coaching the debaters are Mr. Phil Wilson and Mr. Dewayne Bagley! This is our first year having a debate program. On Saturday, speech students joined the debate students. At the end of the day, All Saints ended up earning 3rd place school (out of 11 schools in Novice division). We received a beautiful plaque! Those individuals receiving medals were as follows: Poetry: 3rd place--Trey M.; Debate: 2nd place Marissa W. and Aurora B.; Humorous Duets: 1st place--Lily S. and Ella E.; and Prose: 1st place Marissa W. and 2nd place Aurora B. CONGRATULATIONS to the entire team attending! It took all of you to earn the plaque! I'm very proud of you!
A special 'thank you' to Ms. Leigh Anne Joyce, co-Speech Coach, Mr. Phil Wilson and Mr. Dewayne Bagley, Debate Coaches, and all of the parents and other family members who gave so generously of their time and talents. Another special 'thank you' to everyone who judged at the tournament!
